‘Little House on the Prairie’: Michael Landon’s Former Home Hits Market for Massive Listing Price

Last September, Little House on the Prairie star Michael Landon’s former California palace hit the market, and fans across the globe had the chance to own a piece of classic TV history.

The Spanish revival home came with a massive price, of course. Only someone willing to fork out a minimum of $3.88 million had the chance to live among the 4,795-square-feet of perfection. And who finally purchased the home, we don’t know.

But interestingly, Landon didn’t even live at the address for long. After purchasing it with earnings from Bonanza in June 1960, he and his former wife Dodie Levy-Fraser only enjoyed it for a year and a half.

When they moved in, the beautiful family, which consisted of the couple, Fraser’s son, two adopted children, and a few pets, made the house look like a poster of perfection. But once news of Landon’s affair with Cindy Clerico broke, the facade fell apart. And the divorce that followed forced Landon to sell his dream house.

And we aren’t using the term “dream house” lightly.

Michael Landon’s Mansion Came Equipped with a Vintage Movie Room

The sprawling mansion was first built back in 1926. And the outside was crafted with white stucco and a red terra-cotta tile roof. Inside, a grand winding staircase along with a stained glass window-lined wall immediately greets guests.

And charming finished, such as a hand-painted hexagonal wood ceiling and various crafted fireplaces abound. There are also four bedrooms. And the finished basement includes a vintage screening room with a full bar, the perfect touch for a Hollywood star.

“Romance and purposeful architecture never fail in this home, not for one moment. Nothing compares,” read a listing by broker Patricia Ruben of Sotheby’s International Realty Los Feliz Brokerage.

Outside, the Landon family enjoyed 0.27-acres and a pool that the actor had installed in 1960.

According to the New York Post, the couple officially sold the home in February of 1962. And it wasn’t a pleasant situation. Not only was Frasier scorned. But the couple also gave one of their adopted children to another family during the separation.

The actor finalized his divorce later that year. And when he did, he quickly remarried his second wife, Marjorie Lynn Noe on January 12th, 1963. He had met and fallen in love with her while filming the very show that funded his LA home.

The two lived happily for nearly 20 years and had four children together. But in 1982, Michael Landon met his final wife, Cindy Landon, while working on Little House on the Prairie.

Michael and Cindy remained together until he passed from cancer in 1991.
