William Christopher, best known to fans of classic sitcoms as Father Mulcahy on โ€œMAS*Hโ€ has ๐••๐•š๐•–๐••after losing a ๐•“๐•’๐•ฅ๐•ฅ๐•๐•– ๐•จ๐•š๐•ฅ๐•™ ๐•”๐•’๐•Ÿ๐•”๐•–๐•ฃ. He was 84.

His son, John Christopher, confirmed to ABC Eyewitness News that his father ๐•ก๐•’๐•ค๐•ค๐•–๐•• ๐•—๐•ฃ๐• ๐•ž ๐•Ÿ๐• ๐•Ÿ-๐•๐•ฆ๐•Ÿ๐•˜ ๐•ค๐•ž๐•’๐•๐• ๐•”๐•–๐•๐• ๐•”๐•’๐•ฃ๐•”๐•š๐•Ÿ๐• ๐•ž๐•’ at his home in Pasadena, California, New Yearโ€™s Eve morning.

Christopher began his acting career on the stage in various regional productions and eventually on Broadway in the British revue, โ€œBeyond the Fringe.โ€ A move from New York to Hollywood led to guest appearances on many popular shows of the 1960s, like โ€œThe Andy Griffith Show,โ€ โ€œThe Patty Duke Show,โ€ โ€œGomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.,โ€ โ€œThat Girl,โ€ โ€œHoganโ€™s Heroes,โ€ โ€œThe Love Boat,โ€ and, later on, โ€œ๐•„๐•ฆ๐•ฃ๐••๐•–๐•ฃ, She Wrote,โ€ โ€œMad About Youโ€ and โ€œThe Odd Couple.โ€

His big break, however, came in 1972 when he joined the cast of the Korean ๐•Ž๐•’๐•ฃ comedy โ€œMAS*Hโ€ as Father Mulcahy, and later took the role to the seriesโ€™ spinoff โ€œAfterMASHโ€ in 1983.

He later appeared in the films โ€œThe Fortune Cookie,โ€ โ€œThe Shakiest Gun in the Westโ€ and โ€œWith Six You Get Egg Roll,โ€ to name a few.
