The Italian production company behind HBO’s The Young Pope and My Brilliant Friend are developing a drama series based on the life of Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn.

Mario Gianani and Lorenzo Mieli’s of the Italian shingle Wildside will develop the series together with Hepburn’s son Luca Dotti and Italian journalist Luigi Spinola, authors of the New York Times best-seller Audrey at Home, Memories of My Mother’s Kitchen.

The biography traces the life of the Roman Holiday and Funny Face star from her childhood in Holland during World War II to her time in Hollywood as an actress and in Rome as a wife and mother to her final years as a philanthropist traveling the world for UNICEF.

“In writing the New York Times best-seller, Audrey At Home, Luca and Luigi explored the singularity of Audrey’s real self and discovered along the way that it all matched. The muse, the mother and the later humanitarian all closely relate to a girl that never stopped to be amazed by the gift of life,” Wildside said Tuesday in a statement.

Gianani and Mieli said the TV series will focus on Hepburn’s formative years and that Dotti will be closely involved in the show’s development, contributing his “unprecedented” historical research from that period in his mother’s life. Production of the project is set to start in 2020.

Wildside is a Rome-based subsidiary of the international production giant Fremantle. Its series include the Italian political dramas 1992, 1993 and 1994; the Jude Law-starrer The Young Pope and its upcoming sequel The New Pope; and the critically acclaimed My Brilliant Friend, which was directed by Saverio Costanzo and based on the best-selling Neapolitan Novels by Elena Ferrante.
