David Harbour Cast As Mobster Who Inspired Tony Soprano

Stranger Things star David Harbour will play Jimmy Galante in Cooper Raiff’s upcoming film The Trashers. Raiff and 30West first teamed up for the project in 2021, which will tell the tale of real-life Connecticut mobster Jimmy Galante. Raiff’s directorial debut came with his film Shithouse, which won the SXSW Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature. The director is fresh off the success of his latest film, Cha Cha Real Smooth, and will direct the upcoming movie based on a script by Billions’ Adam R. Perlman. The Trashers is on pace to begin filming in Fall 2022

As reported by Deadline, Stranger Things star Harbour will play the lead role of Jimmy Galante in The Trashers. Raiff expressed his excitement about signing on Harbour, crediting both his warmth and toughness as perfect characteristics of Galante. Raiff also admits that he hopes to be friends with Harbour “forever.” Check out the director’s exact comments below:

Galante is widely speculated to be the inspiration for one of television’s most iconic mobsters, Tony Soprano. Galante bought a minor-league hockey team in 2004, designating his teenage son to oversee it. The team ultimately developed a large following, notoriously known for their overly aggressive action on the ice. However, as the team began winning, Galante was arrested on 72 criminal charges, bringing the team’s success to a bitter end. With Harbour on board, fans will get the see how the Stranger Things sheriff does on the other side of the law. There is currently no release date set for The Trashers, but fans can stay tuned as more information trickles out regarding the project.
