Downton Abbey actor who features in new film and is dating Hampshire-born co-star

The talented duo have been together since 2016

English actor Michael Fox is one of the faces you’ll recognise making a return to Downton Abbey when the new film is released this spring.

In fact, the 33-year-old – who celebrated his birthday on January 5 – has more ties to the popular TV series as he is dating one of the show’s stars, Laura Carmichael.

Southampton-born Laura plays Lady Edith Crawley and the couple have been together since 2016.

Michael is best known for his role as footman Andrew Parker in the fifth and sixth seasons of the ITV series in 2014 and 2015.

He also features in both movies of Downton Abbey, filmed at Hampshire’s Highclere Castle.

Michael now lives in London but was born in High Wycombe. He attended school in the Buckinghamshire town, and was in the same year as Great Britain hockey player Nick Catlin, with the pair appearing in school productions alongside each other.

Michael is also a musician and part of a band named Luna, and he rides horses – competing in the equestrian sport of eventing. You could certainly call him an ‘all-rounder’.

He went to the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, before embarking on his career in acting.

Laura, meanwhile, was educated in our very own county.

She attended Shirley Junior School in Southampton, The Mountbatten School in Romsey and Peter Symonds College in Winchester.

She studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and graduated in 2007.

Before her acting career came into fruition she spent a few years doing ‘odd jobs’ including as a teaching assistant, receptionist and a nanny while attending auditions.
