Those who have watched The Andy Griffith Show reruns the last five decades may have noticed that there are some faces that keep showing up. Although they didn’t play the main characters on the show, more than one actress played multiple roles during the show. One, however, played the most out of anybody in Mayberry.
There were so many random friends and acquaintances throughout the years on the show. So, if you weren’t able to keep up, don’t worry. We got you covered. Outside of the regular cast, this actress was the most prolific on the show. Mary Lansing played more characters than anyone to appear on the show. She had so many roles, fans might have forgotten about some of them.
Probably most known as Martha Clark, there were other roles she took on as well. That included Mrs. Rodenbach and Mrs. Lukens. Altogether, the actress portrayed 13 different roles on the show. She even made it to the spin-off show, Mayberry R.F.D. Here are some names you might recognize from the show: Miss Primrose, Miss Roundtree, Dorothy, Mary, and Mrs, Mason.
With so many roles on the show, it is amazing the actors could keep her names straight in each episode. Surely, there has to be blooper footage of them calling Miss Roundtree Martha Clark or another one of her names. Mayberry wasn’t the only place that Lansing could be seen on film, either.
Outside of The Andy Griffith Show, the actress had other memorable roles. Her career began in a 1929 movie, Happy Days. However, she can also be heard in Disney’s Bambi as Aunt Ena and Mrs. Possum. The actress had a wonderful career, and in 1974 portrayed her last role in the forgotten Apple’s Way.
‘The Andy Griffith Show’ and ‘M*A*S*H’ Airing on New Nights
Over on MeTV, the classics of yesterday are shown for all of us to enjoy over and over again. Two of the biggest draws on the throwback network, are The Andy Griffith Show and M*A*S*H. It turns out that those shows are going to be moving to a new night and fans are going to want to get this information so they can adjust accordingly.
MeTV is going to make the change on November 28. That means that the shows are moving to Sunday nights. First, at 6 PM, viewers will get to check in on Mayberry. After that it is Hawkeye and the rest of the 4077th gracing your screen at 7 PM. Those times are in Eastern.
The Andy Griffith Show continues to be one of the most beloved shows of all time. For years, multiple generations have grown up watching the show. Mary Lansing, Don Knotts, Ron Howard, and of course, Andy Griffith keeping you entertained.
